The Electric Frog festival returns with it's third and most outstanding presentation so far of 2011. On the weekend of Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th of September the Electric Frog mounts an enviable festival weekend of live and dj performances.
Glasgow's Electric Frog arrives in early September, hot on the heels of their Summer Festival with their final event of 2011. Once again the Electric Frog presents an exceptional line-up of the finest deejays, electronic music and live performances, pulling together an exceptional programme of both international and home-grown talent which is mounted right in the very heart of Glasgow city. Saturday's line-up includes three of the most important and influential artists in the history of contemporary house and techno while Sunday
The September Weekender includes appearances a and performances by :- FRANKIE KNUCKLES - an undisputed legend, the artist whose Chicago parties in the 80's were where the term "House Music" was coined, JEFF MILLS - a founding member of the Underground Resistance collective and one of the most important and influential of america's techno producers, DERRICK MAY - one of the classic Detroit triumvirate alongside Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, May's "strings of life" remains one of the most inspired dance tracks of all time, MOGWAI - Glasgow's internationally acclaimed ambassadors of cosmic post-rock, THE FALL - British post-punk legends for 35 years and one of Q magazines "50 bands to see before you die", WILD BEASTS - elegant, baroque pop from this Mercury Nominated Leeds group, ERRORS - leading lights of the post-electronica scene with their own unique brand of pop-hook filled synth-funk.
As with the programming of previous editions of the Electric Frog, a balance is deliberately drawn between new and old, home-grown and visiting talent. The festival works on the premise of mixing what is new and exciting in the contemporary musical scene with an opportunity to experience some of the seminal artists whose work has inspired, and continuous to exert an influence on, the present. The festival is proud to bring exceptional international talent to appear in Glasgow alongside some of our own brightest and best home grown musical heros.
Saturday's line-up features some of the most influential and (genuine) legends of house and techno, providing an opportunity to experience the historical reach of contemporary dance music right back to its embryonic beginnings, to the ground-breaking pioneers who brought it into being. This Sunday line-up of live performances is something different, giving a taste of how the Electric Frog plans to evolve into a broader based event in future, bringing together drawing in wider the wider influences of the organisers and those they collaborate with to, brining a careful mix of electronic and live performances and hoping to fill the vacuum left by the demise of in-the-city events like Tryptich.
Electric Frog 2011 is a collaboration between Liquid Events, SWG3, Slam Events/Pressure and Synergy Concerts.
